Stress, Anxiety & Depression

"The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another"

How Counselling Helps?

  • According to the Cleveland clinic, stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses.
  • Stress is a normal part of life. It can be positive like the birth of a child. Stress is negative when one faces continuous hurdles and setbacks in life without time in between the stressful episodes.
  • The body’s response to stress is known as the "fight or flight response". Prolonged periods of stress can have detrimental effects- both physical and emotional.
  • Some of the physical symptoms can include headaches, an upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain, sexual dysfunction, and problems sleeping.
  • Emotional problems include depression, panic attacks, or other forms of anxiety and worry.
  • Research suggests that Stress is linked to 6 of the leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver, and suicide.
  • The American Psychological Association says that while stress is usually caused by external triggers, Anxiety is a persistent worry that exists even in the absence of any stressors. Some of the symptoms are feeling nervous, tired, feeling a sense of impending danger, palpitations, rapid breathing, sweating, trembling, difficulty to concentrate on tasks at hand.
  • Depression is a mood disorder. A person may have feelings of sadness, anger that interrupts and prevents him from performing daily activities. It can influence your relationships and in the long run result in chronic health conditions.
  • Sometimes it’s easier to talk to a stranger than to relatives or friends.
  • During Therapy, a trained counsellor listens to you and helps you find your own answers to problems, without judging you.
  • The counsellor with give you time to talk, cry, shout or just think. It is an opportunity to look at your problems in a different way with someone who will respect you and your opinions.
  • It is said that therapy doesn’t make your problems go away, but they find it easier to cope with them and feel happier.
